How we help
Protecting the things that matter most is our commitment to Albertans. That’s why we reimagined the AMA Foundation for Traffic Safety in 2023—which for two decades has funded critical traffic safety research—as the AMA Community Foundation. We knew there was more we could do, beyond the road, to look after future generations of Albertans. The Foundation has been expanded to include work in four priority areas: food security, climate good, childhood safety and safe communities. Within each of these priority areas are the projects we’re supporting. You told us these issues were important to you, and we listened.
Our donor community has the power to create meaningful, sustainable change in the places where we each live and work. The AMA Community Foundation is a way to support issues close to all our hearts and that make Alberta stronger now and in the future.
Our Mission
We champion and support programs that help the leaders of tomorrow feel empowered and confident. With a focus on food security, climate good, safe communities, and childhood well-being, we’re passionate about making Alberta youth more self-sufficient, capable and resilient.

FAQ
When I donate to the AMA Community Foundation, where does my money go
100% of your donation will go towards projects in food security, climate good, childhood safety and safe communities in our province. All administrative costs are covered by AMA.
Will I receive a tax receipt for my donation?
Any donation $20 or more will receive a tax receipt. If your donation is less than $20 and you’d like one sent to you, please contact ama.foundation@ama.ab.ca.
Does the Foundation still support traffic safety?
Yes. We renamed the Foundation for Traffic Safety and expanded it to include work in four priority areas, including our work in traffic safety. Alongside other partners in these spaces, we aim to create the same kind of positive impact for future generations of Albertans as we’d have done with traffic safety.
