Halloween Armbands in Support of AMA Community Foundation

For the past two years, AMA has distributed reflective armbands for kids just in time for Halloween. This is part of our commitment to protecting what matters most— which includes our little ghouls and goblins. Members can either pick up their reflective armbands at one of our centres or order in bulk if they are part of a larger group. The armbands are free, but participants are encouraged to donate to the AMA Community Foundation in lieu of payment for an armband.
The significance of these armbands was highlighted in 2023 by one of our AMA employees due to a tragic story that happened in their community.
In April 2020, 10-year-old Charles McIntyre was struck and killed in a crosswalk by a distracted driver. A #SlowYourRoll campaign was created to bring awareness to distracted driving in Lethbridge. The Charles McIntyre Fund also supports children through YMCA programs.
When Lethbridge AMA employee Ludy Mennie heard that AMA was supplying community arm bands, she was the first to ask for an entire set for her daughter’s school—Coalbanks Elementary School, the same school Charles McIntyre had attended. She also went on to encourage other organizations in the community to do the same.
In addition to distribution of the armbands, AMA also shares Halloween safey tips for additional ways for kids to stay safe while trick or treating. Be sure to watch our AMA’s website to learn more about armbands for next year as a great way to support the AMA Community Foundation.
