With food bank use at record levels across Alberta, AMA members stepped up in a big way in 2025, as they helped the AMA Community Foundation raise a record $371,451 in support of food banks across the province.

The Alberta Motor Association’s (AMA) Fill Our Fleet Campaign offered members several ways to give back, including an in-centre transaction “top up” option, which Albertans took advantage of 7,263 times, directly contributing towards food banks in the communities where donations were made.

AMA initially committed to matching donations to the Fill Our Fleet Campaign up to $100,000. In response to the generosity of members and the continuing high need at Alberta food banks, AMA increased its matching commitment by an additional $25,000, bringing the total match to $125,000.

“We launched this campaign knowing food banks were facing record-high demand, but the response from Albertans truly exceeded our expectations,” Karina Dixon, executive director of the AMA Community Foundation.

“When our million AMA members and the broader community come together, it shows just how powerful collective action can be.”

The campaign was held in the face of surging food insecurity in the province, with recent stats showing more than 210,000 people are visiting an Alberta food bank each month–up 22% since the year before and up 134% since 2019.

Funds raised through Fill Our Fleet go directly to food banks in the communities where the donations were made.

“We’re deeply proud of our members, whose generosity through Fill Our Fleet currently supports 22 different food banks across Alberta, helping to strengthen communities of all sizes,” Dixon says.

The AMA Community Foundation’s Fill Our Fleet campaign has been providing support to Alberta’s food banks since 2009. Since then, it has provided over $1.8 million in donations and over 425,000 pounds of food for Albertans in need.
